Ia merupakan anak dari seorang pebisnis Michael Armand Hammer dan cucu dari pemilik bisnis minyak bumi Armand Hammer.

Perjalanan karier

Armie Hammer memulai karier aktingnya dengan menjadi bintang tamu di beberapa serial televisi sejak tahun 2005.

Peran utama pertama Hammer adalah sebagai Billy Graham dalam film Billy: The Early Years (2008).

Ia mendapatkan pengakuan yang lebih luas untuk perannya sebagai si kembar Cameron dan Tyler Winklevoss dalam film drama biografi David Fincher, The Social Network (2010).

Melalui aktingnya dalam film tersebut, ia memenangkan Penghargaan Asosiasi Kritikus Film Toronto untuk Aktor Pendukung Terbaik.

Hammer kemudian memerankan Clyde Tolson dalam film biografi J. Edgar (2011), memainkan karakter judul di barat The Lone Ranger (2013), dan membintangi sebagai Illya Kuryakin dalam film aksi The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015).

Pada tahun 2017, ia membintangi drama romantis Luca Guadagnino, Call Me by Your Name, di mana ia menerima nominasi untuk Golden Globe untuk Aktor Pendukung Terbaik.

Tahun berikutnya, ia memerankan Martin D. Ginsburg dalam film biografi On the Basis of Sex (2018).
